What the PM Surya Ghar subsidy covers
Central rooftop subsidy amounts, who they apply to, and what a Telangana or Andhra Pradesh homeowner still has to confirm.

PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana is the central residential rooftop scheme run through pmsuryaghar.gov.in. The published central assistance works out to ₹30,000 for 1 kW, ₹60,000 for 2 kW, and ₹78,000 from 3 kW upward. That last figure is a cap: ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and ₹18,000 for the third.
A larger home system can still be installed. The central subsidy does not keep rising with every extra kilowatt. Above 3 kW the cap stays at ₹78,000. Ask for a free quote for the system cost. The subsidy is assistance on top of that quote, not the quote itself.
Commercial and industrial connections are not the audience for this household subsidy. They are assessed on tariff, daytime load and roof, not on the ₹78,000 figure.
In Telangana the distribution companies are TGSPDCL and TSSPDCL. In Andhra Pradesh the application still has to match the local DISCOM. State top-ups, if any, should be read from the current government order rather than from a vendor advertisement.
Smart Solar Systems can help a household prepare for a survey and the paperwork. Approval remains with the portal and the DISCOM.
